Buzz 4 BusinessMy name is Cindy and I own Heart To Heart Seniorcare. I have helped seniors for the past 8 years, and I LOVE what I do! It's my "calling" in life! I feel there is alot of seniors and their loved ones out there that need our help, whether its in-home care, a place to find resources, a support group, dementia/alzhemier's information, how a senior can stay safe in their homes, how to avoid moving a senior to a nursing home/assisted living, providing respite care for loved ones and just someplace to get some answers. This group will hopefully do all that plus more!
Take a peek into a reporter's notebook; the little notes we make in the margins of the notebook that don't make it into the published story; ancedotes, observations, and other miscellaneous too good to not mention.
Hi, it's Unsie.
I thought I started this Embedded in the Suburbs blog last year, but clearly, I was mistaken. So, get on with Take Two...lights camera...and three, two ... roll 'em.
Now that the real snow has arrived, it is the beginning of the parking lot hogs. With snow and ice covering the parking space markings, people feel free to take up as many spots as they like in a parking lot. For example, attended a lunch meeting at the Metropolitan Ballroom yesterday in Golden Valley. Cars taking up 2-3 spaces. Thanks so much. I'll have to put up with parking three blocks away and then wrestle with the bitter wind and blowing snow as I make my way to the other side of the building to the main entrance because you've hogged all the spaces.
The cake project is approaching week 7 or 8, I forget.
The snafu this week was that someone, alright that some was me, didn't go to the grocery storet last weekend. When it got to be Sunday evening, and I was already in fuzzy slippers and lounge lizard-wear, I looked into the fridge only to see I had no eggs, no butter, no milk, you know, main ingredients for cake. I was in no mood to drive to the store and I feel funny about showing up at the neighbors at 9 p.m. asking for eggs, milk and butter. But that's just me.
What was I going to do?
The cake project is proceeding nicely.
This Monday, I brought in the Chocolate Velvet Fudge Cake, baked in a bundt pan, and dusted with powdered sugar. The aroma was a rich, dense chocolate, thanks to Giradelli cocoa powder and superfine sugar.
Rose recommended using a silicone tube pan, but I'm not sure I like those squishy pans. I just don't trust them. Have any of you readers used them? Maybe I'm being small-minded.
Lisa Patrin is a local resident whose claim to fame was being a finalist in a chocolate dessert contest sponsored by famous TV chef Emeril Lagasse and a finalist in a food contest that flew her to Napa Valley. When Lisa isn't cooking and baking up a storm, she's keeping an eye on a storm of a different sort.
Lisa works at Chanhassen High School as a student supervisor, helping create a friendly presence at the school and being on hand to lend assistance.
