Following an extensive search, two men have been arrested on charges of committing an armed robbery in Waconia, according to a press release from Carver County Sheriff Bud Olson.
At 6:38 a.m., Aug. 15, the dispatch center received a 9-1-1 call reporting an armed robbery had just occurred at the Kwik Trip gas station at 809 Vista Blvd in Waconia. The caller stated a man displayed a handgun, robbed the cashier and fled in a small black car, possibly a Cavalier.
A sergeant responding to the call observed a vehicle matching the description of the robbery vehicle turn into a farm drive in the 10000 block of Hwy 284 south of Waconia.
The sergeant pursued the car onto a field road and observed two men run from the vehicle into a wooded area. Responding deputies surrounded the area and called for assistance. After an extensive search both men were located and arrested for the armed robbery.
Both suspects, a 23-year-old Shakopee man and a 20-year-old Prior Lake man, are being held at the Carver County Jail pending charges.
Carver County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team and K-9 were assisted by Minnesota State Patrol, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and K-9’s from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Jordan Police Department.
“We are very proud of the fine job done by all involved,” stated Olson in the press release. “We are grateful for the assistance we received from our law enforcement partners to bring this incident to a successful end and we want the community to know it is safe.”
